Within this serene environment, our facility provides an intermediate level of care for individuals who have been diagnosed with mental retardation or some other form of developmental disability.

Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center provides lawn areas where our clients can take advantage of the beautiful surroundings. Clients can utilize the outdoor areas to relax and entertain visitors.
The mission of our organization is to provide a safe, comfortable, and clean environment where residents enjoy freedom of choice in maintaining their dignity, privacy, and quality of life.
It is the primary objective of Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center to restore and maintain each client at his or her highest functional levels, in addition to encouraging dignity, self-care, and independence at all times.
We will pursue this objective through Physician Services, Nursing Services, Social Services, Resident Activities, and Vocational Training.
At Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center, we realize that the decision to place an individual in a residential care facility is a difficult one at best. Our dedicated and professional staff stands ready to assist you at this important time, by having the patience to answer all of your important questions regarding residential care.
Our facility provides spacious lounge areas where clients may socialize and enjoy quiet time. In an effort to promote wellness throughout the facility, Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center maintains a smoke free environment. Staff and Client smoking is permitted in designated areas outside the facility.
Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center is staffed with qualified and caring individuals who have the patience necessary to work with the special needs of the MR/DD client. They also provide the personal attention necessary to make your loved ones residential stay with us a positive experience, with positive outcomes. Our nursing component is under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, with doctors on call at all times. Our nursing staff works in shifts around the clock, supervising the medications and treatment in each client’s individual care plan. Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center is equipped with the latest in computer technology, personally designed to assist the habilitation staff in providing the most efficient care possible.
Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center’s dedicated management team has over 100 years of combined experience in the various disciplines related to residential care. This experience further enhances the positive outcomes achieved, which are the result of a working knowledge of active treatment programming within the MR/DD population.
Habilitation staff under the direction of a Licensed Social Worker and QMRP, supports and advocates on the behalf of the clients and their families. Social staff also helps clients deal with the transition to residential facility living. In addition they also direct problem solving, goal planning, and IP conferences where clients and their families have direct input into all aspects of their daily lives.
At Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center, we realize how important the dining experience is in promoting an optimal quality of life for our clients. Clients are encouraged to participate in the menu selection process, by working with a licensed dietitian and food service supervisor.
Clients enjoy delicious meals, which are attractively served, and well balanced in nutrition. All meals are prepared according to physician’s orders, and the special dietary needs of the individual client.
The dining experience features family style dining, where clients are encouraged to serve themselves from the table. This gives the entire dining experience a homelike look and feel.
Rehabilitation services at Twin Oaks living and Learning Center includes outcome-based speech therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy and occupational therapy, along with psychosocial interventions provided by a Licensed Social Worker. Our contracted therapy staff have the training and experience necessary to assist our clients in achieving their maximum rehabilitative potential.
Our private and semi-private rooms provide for all the basic comforts of home, including adjustable beds as required, in addition to cable television connections.
Activities and social interaction play a very important part in our client’s lives. Our activities and social staff combine over 60 years of working with the MR/DD population. The various lounge areas located throughout the facility, offer an ideal place for clients to read, chat, or get involved with habilitation programming. Indoor and outdoor activities are continually planned, so that our clients remain orientated to their community and surroundings. A fully equipped wheelchair van is available to transport clients to social and medical activities.
All clients of Twin Oaks Living and Learning Center are mandated by State and Federal laws to participate in active treatment programming. Active treatment programming is defined as vocational training by habilitation staff of clients, which has the short-term or long-term goal of teaching clients skills which make that individual more independent; with the ultimate goal being for that client to move on to a less restrictive living environment, preferably in a community setting.
